In keeping with its product/technology strategy to ensure developments are in line with market trends which contain a high level of ODM, Cambion Electronics Ltd. has recently added a range of dual-in-line spring loaded connectors to its product portfolio. The connector range is available from 4 trough to 20 ways with the insulator manufactured in a high temperature thermoplastic suitable for lead-free, hand or reflow soldering applications. Initially designed to be used as board stacking connectors, the range has subsequently been shown to have a multitude of uses within test and instrumentation applications, particularly where high durability is deemed critical as the connector contacts have been tested to withstand 1 mio mechanical cycles. The connectors are suited to blind mate applications as they allow for a high degree of misalignment with the mating contact/pad. Contacts are gold plated copper alloy with a stainless steel spring, consequently RoHS compliant. The DIL connectors adds a new dimension to Cambion portfolio and supplements the already existing range of descreet spring loaded contacts, which are available in numerous termination configurations, plating options and sizes.
