The indicators were developed based on the high requirement profile of difficult military and aerospace applications. They offer a wide range of operating voltages and are installed in hermetically sealed miniature housings. This rugged design even withstands shock, vibration and high temperatures.

The latching function ensures a fast positive response to an error signal. The indicator ball changes color only when the indicator is activated by a BITE (Built-In Test Equipment) signal. The magnetic indicators show no signs of wear on bearings, springs or filaments and provide excellent visibility in strong ambient light.

When the display coil is triggered with 40 milliseconds, the highly visible, two-color display of the ball rotates 180° and locks onto the magnetic core. The displayed ball remains in the last position, even if the error signal is removed, the display remains. The “reset” to the original display is done electrically. Model BHG (single coil) is reset by reversing the polarity of the input signal to the coil. Model BHGD (dual coil) is reset by pulsing a separate internal coil.

Optional features include insulated leads, special lenses (radius dome, cylindrical, anti-glare), O-ring plate seal, internally mounted diodes, and RFI panel shielding.
